Become a partner institution of the project “Threads of tradition, weaves of generations”

We are looking for partner institutions to carry out the program “Threads of tradition, weaves of generations – workshops of creative handicrafts”, which we will implement under the Program of the Ministry of Education “Our traditions”. Participation in the project is free of charge.

We are implementing the project in nine towns in the region with up to 15 thousand inhabitants. The idea of the project is to conduct a series of workshops for intergenerational groups, whose participants will creatively interpret handicrafts: characteristic Kuyavian embroidery and shuttle lace, known as frivolita.

We propose two (lasting 2 hours each) meetings in each technique. The workshops will be led by an experienced instructor duo: a handicraft specialist and an educator, a pedagogue. Each meeting is not only to learn specific skills, but also a time for conversation, exchange of experiences and discovering together the importance of tradition in today’s world.

People participating in the classes:

• will learn what Kuyavian embroidery looked like in the past and how it can be used today – in fashion, decorations and artistic projects,
• will learn basic stitches and motifs, which they will transfer on their own to fabrics, paper or other materials,
• will try their hand at the delicate and effective technique of frillwork, creating their own decorations – pendants, cards or elements of jewelry,
• will create their own works, which you will take home as a souvenir and the result of joint creativity.

The workshop will be a great opportunity to spend time together, learn about local heritage and pass it on to the next generation in a creative way. We show that tradition does not have to be locked up in a museum – it can live on in family memories, everyday objects and modern design.
