On Sunday at WOAK | HERstories of strong and courageous women

This Sunday is the next installment of the Festival of Forgotten Cultures “Female Builders. Herstories of courageous women”. We invite you to three different events that are united by the slogan women of courage.

At 4:30 pm the opening of the exhibition “I am strong because…”. Marta Frej. See a selection of works made as part of a unique participatory action. The artist co-creates paintings with women who share with her stories and reflections on their understanding of the concept of “women’s strength”.

Immediately after the vernissage, at 5pm, the discussion “Why do we need herstories?” will begin. What are HERstories, how do they differ from HIStories and why are they so important. To the discussion we have invited: Marta Frej, Anna Dziewit-Meller and Sylwia Chutnik. We encourage you to actively join this discussion.

The last Sunday event will be the performance “Leprosy” by students of the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Krakow Kinga Tecmer and Natalia Pastusiak. It was inspired by the figure of Janina Bartkiewiczówna – a girl scout and volunteer involved in helping leprosy patients in Uganda.
