Or is it photography that has so changed our perception of the world that we have begun to see it as a “global village” after Marshall McLuhan?These are just some of the topics that Stanislaw Jasinski will discuss at the September lecture in the “Art of Photography” series. The lecture will be an introduction to the entire series (from September 2025 to May 2026), in which you will learn about the most important trends in socially engaged photography.It’s a fascinating journey through social history from the industrial age to modern times, when any image in a split second can reach audiences around the world. During the first meeting, you will learn what Marshall McLuhan’s concept of the “global village” is, how, in his view, “global communication” has changed the behavior of different social strata. You will also learn how different social groups reacted to the invention of photography and its rapidly growing popularity, how painting (Eugene Delacroix) and literature (Honore Balzac) changed under the influence of photography. How did photography change newspapers and the flow of information? And finally: what was the role of a new group of craftsmen – photographers.The lecture in the series “Art of Photography” will be given by Stanislaw Jasinski – photographer and photography instructor, member of the Union of Polish Artists Photographers.
