We are looking for 4 museums, galleries or cultural centers with permanent exhibition activities in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian province to become partners in the project “Invisible Painting. Art Discussion Series” – ”Invisible Painting. Art Discussion Series”.

About the project:

With this activity, we will create an inclusive, welcoming and multi-sensory space to discuss art, using universal design as a method to equally engage visually impaired and sighted people.

The pretext will be a discussion of Witkacy’s painting “Portrait of Dr. Ignacy Wasserberg,” located in the collection of the District Museum in Toruń. With the help of tiffographs, audiodescription, tactile elements and aromas, participants will discuss the painting without engaging the sense of sight, using touch, smell, taste and sound.

What is the partnership in the project?

We come to your institution with a model activity. We divide the visit into two parts:

a multisensory discussion on Witkacy’s painting, to which we invite up to 20 participants – sighted and visually impaired (the recruitment and promotion of the discussion is on your side)

an internal closing meeting with at least 2 people from your institution involved in creating/curating the exhibitions, during which we will discuss the discussion and the methods used.

We invite you to a workshop (2 people from each partner institution), during which we share with you the developed model and good practices from the project, thanks to which you yourselves will be able to use in your own practice the elements of universal design and engaging visually impaired people by stimulating different senses.

Participation in the project is free of charge for you. By sending an application, you commit to the participation of a minimum of 2 of the same people in both parts of the project.

For whom.

We invite institutions that meet four conditions to cooperate:

Your head office is located in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian voivodeship

Your institution has already undertaken activities involving people with visual disabilities

Your institution has a permanent exhibition activity

You want to expand your activities to include activities involving people with visual impairments.

Call results

We will inform all submitted institutions of the results of the call up to and including June 30. The selection will be made by a team consisting of Łukasz Wudarski – director of WOAK and Patrycja Gancarczyk – accessibility coordinator, evaluating the compliance of the applications with the project’s assumptions and motivation to participate.
