It is the fifth studio album of the Toruń-Grudziądz-based musical and astronomical project operating continuously since 2009. The authors of all musical compositions on the latest album are Rafał Iwański and Wojciech Zięba. Two Toruń-based artists and sound engineers were invited to join the project: Piotr Żuralski from the Kompozyt duo, who took care of processing astronomical audio data (including pulsars and black hole collisions) using modular systems, and Szymon Szwarc, known for his projects Divorce and SKI, responsible for mastering the music material. Substantive support was provided by astronomer Sebastian Soberski from the Planetarium and Astronomical Observatory in Grudziądz and the Institute of Astronomy at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Piwnice near Toruń. The album ‘De Revolutionibus MMXXIII’ was released as part of a grant from the City of Toruń in the field of culture, which Rafał Iwański received for activities in 2023. Voices Of The Cosmos A group formed by two sound artists: Rafał Iwański (Toruń, musician known from such groups as Alameda, Hati ex Innercity Ensemble) and Wojciech Zięba (Grudziądz, solo performer as Electric Uranus, acoustic instrument producer), and astronomer Sebastian Soberski, manager of the Planetarium and Astronomical Observatory in Grudziądz and radio astronomer at the Institute of Astronomy at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Piwnice near Toruń. The Voices Of The Cosmos project combines the achievements of astronomy with electroacoustic music in an innovative way. The creators use original extraterrestrial signals and sounds received by radio telescopes (e.g. pulsars, planetary magnetospheres, the Sun, auroras, masers, collisions of black holes) and other radio devices; they also use sonification and archival recordings from space missions. Instrumental tracks integrated with processed rhythms and tones of ‘space sounds’ are created using electronic instruments, both digital and analogue, as well as various acoustic objects. The VOTC group has been popularising astronomy and experimental electroacoustic sound generation techniques since 2009. The project has been repeatedly presented in the form of audiovisual concerts at prestigious scientific institutions, galleries, clubs and music festivals, also in an expanded version with multimedia astronomy lectures and sky observations, as well as sound and astronomy workshops. https://voicesofthecosmos.bandcamp.com http://www.voicesofthecosmos.pl See more Accessibility = team play | Recipient’s journey to the institution | meeting 12.12.2024 | 11:00 Faience girls | performative reading 14.12.2024 | 17:00 Artarterie – Women in ancient art | December 19.12.2024 | 18:30
