Van Gogh is an artist whose entire life was stigmatized by failures. He was neither a good art dealer nor a pastor. He failed to create an artistic colony, nor could he find love. Was this the fuel for his creativity? Or was it his illness forcing him into an almost obsessive need to create? In the end, lest his demons consume him, he painted one painting after another. He created about 2,000 of them, and 870 have survived to our times. These paintings are not only a reflection of his great painterly sensitivity, but also… a study of his illness. Although the artist sold only one painting during his lifetime, today millions are paid for his works. He is an artist around whom many myths and legends have grown, but what was he really like? This is what we will try to find out during the lecture. We will also take a look at his works and their enormous impact on the history of modern art. As always, the speech will be enriched with multimedia and many intriguing anecdotes. The lecture will be traditionally hosted by Lukasz Wudarski See more Accessibility = team play | Recipient’s journey to the institution | meeting 12.12.2024 | 11:00 Faience girls | performative reading 14.12.2024 | 17:00 Artarterie – Women in ancient art | December 19.12.2024 | 18:30
