Club Supełek celebrates its 45th birthday! Operating at WOAK, the group is best known for its shuttle lace – frillwork – characterized by the artful beauty and unique precision of its frillwork masterpieces. On April 12 at 12:00 we invite you to an anniversary celebration and the opening of a commemorative exhibition. During the event, we will get to know more about the artists who, out of their love for beauty, cultivate handicraft traditions, and continue to infect the next generation with their passion. During the course of the exhibition (weekdays, from April 15 to 30, from 14:00 to 18:00), the artists will give live demonstrations of handicraft techniques. We will see how the shuttle is used to create frillwork, listen to memories of the artists of the Suffolk Club, as well as learn stories and interesting facts about the works presented at the exhibition. The Handicraft Group “Klub Supełek” was established on the initiative of Wanda Malczewska in 1979 at the then Provincial House of Culture. Almost from the very beginning, the specialty of female artists (and sometimes artists) associated with the team became shuttle lace “frivolita”. Frivolits and other works created by artists gathered in the Supełek Club are presented at fairs, festivals and group exhibitions throughout Poland, and win laurels in national and international competitions of folk art and handicraft.
