Female Builders in Kuyavia and Pomerania (2025)

The aim of the “Women Builders in Kuyavia and Pomerania” project is to popularize one of the elements of the intangible cultural heritage of the region, which are the herstories of women leaders.
With determination, they built local communities in small towns of the current Kuyavian-Pomeranian province through daily cultural and social-creative work. The project involves the organization in 20 small towns in the region of an interdisciplinary cultural event, which will consist of a screening of the play “Women Builders” presentation of the mobile exhibition-installation “Transfer” and workshops involving female residents in discovering and documenting local stories about women. The project will ensure accessibility for people with disabilities through audiodescription, translation into PJM and sensory guides to performances played in Toruń and Bydgoszcz. The resulting online archive “builders.pl” will become a permanent source of knowledge, inspiring reflection on the role of women in building communities and the region’s cultural heritage.
