We are organizing one of the debates of the Co-Congress of Culture

What can’t be seen from Warsaw, or how to combine the central perspective of cultural development with the regional and municipal ones? – this is the topic of a panel debate we proposed together with the Baltic Sea Cultural Center in Gdansk to the program of the Co-Congress of Culture, which will be held in Warsaw from November 7 to 9.

The proposal of Toruń’s WAOK and Gdansk’s NCK received a lot of interest from people who plan to participate in the Co-Congress of Culture. Of all the debate proposals in the “Local and regional culture” panel, we won the most votes. We are convinced that any strategy for cultural development must take into account both local and regional perspectives. We also take the trust you have placed in us as a green light to organize a debate, during which we will think together about what we can do to ensure that the voices, needs and opinions of animators, creators and cultural managers are equally important no matter where they are from.

One of the elements of this debate will be precisely our participation in the Co-Congress of Culture 2024. Together with Alicja Jelińska from the Baltic Sea Cultural Center, we will hold a discussion in the panel “Local and regional culture”.

Relevant issues in our view include: Is it possible to make the voice of people and institutions in small towns heard? Is there a way to make this local perspective heard in Warsaw?

They will search for the answers together:

  • Łukasz Wudarski (Provincial Center for Cultural Animation in Toruń),
  • Alicja Jelińska (Baltic Sea Cultural Center in Gdansk),
  • Prof. Cezary Obracht-Prądzyński (University of Gdansk, Kashubian-Pomeranian Association), Natalia Gromow (Municipal Public Library in Gdynia, LABIB Association),
  • Monika Januszewska (Library – Cultural and Promotion Center of Lubiewo Commune).
