April 9 (Thursday) | 6:00 p.m. | DKJo! | Édouard Manet: Luncheon on the Grass Manet’s painting is one of the greatest scandals in art history and a milestone in the birth of modernism. The provocative composition—a nude woman (the model Victorine Meurent) looking directly into the viewer’s eyes, accompanied by clothed men in a suburban grove—was rejected by the Paris Salon and exhibited at the Salon des Refusés. Édouard Manet shocked the public with this painting in many different ways. If you’d like to learn about some of them, join us for the next meeting of the One Painting Discussion Club—DKJo! As always, the discussion will be led by Łukasz Wudarski, art historian and director of WOAK. During a brief introduction, he will present the historical and social context of the work, discuss its most popular interpretations, and explore the inspirations Manet drew upon. We will then invite you to join the conversation, as the idea behind DKJo! meetings is the free exchange of thoughts and opinions. read more See more Pilot Institutions in Change development program for cultural institutions from the region 17.01.2026 Development Meetings for People of Culture 20.01.2026 Golden Mills of Kujawsko-Pomorskie: Cultural Animation Awards | Submissions
