January 15 (Thursday), 6:00 p.m. | DKJo! “Hunters in the Snow” | Pieter Bruegel (the Elder) Did winter in northern Europe look different four hundred years ago? Or perhaps it hasn’t changed at all? In 1564, Dutch master Pieter Bruegel (the Elder) painted one of the most famous depictions of a winter landscape characteristic of our latitudes: the painting “Hunters in the Snow.” The January weather is a perfect opportunity to talk about this extraordinary painting. On Thursday, January 15, at 6:00 p.m., let’s meet at WOAK for another DKJo! – One Painting Discussion Club. Together, we will look at how the artist depicted hunters returning from a hunt, but we will also consider the symbolic meaning of individual elements of the composition. The meeting will be led by Łukasz Wudarski, director of WOAK and art historian, who will begin by discussing the context of the work and its previous interpretations. Then, the floor will be opened to you, because at DKJo! every opinion is equally valuable.
