In September, together with Martyna Wenda – as part of the series “After the Subtitles” – we will learn about “The Forest That Is No More”.

The film tells the story of the difficult process of coming to terms with the loss of a beloved place. It was here that Jerzy was born, raised, grew up and started a family. The protagonist of the film, recalling his life, realizes that he saw the forest in its full glory for the last time. He decides to light a symbolic bonfire, in which he burns branches and roots broken by the storm.

Martyna Wenda – graduated from the Leon Wyczółkowski High School of Fine Arts in Bydgoszcz, the Wajda School & Studio Film School, as well as Media Art and Visual Education, specializing in Multimedia and Photography at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. She is currently a doctoral student at Academia Artium Humaniorum in art sciences.

She specializes in photography and documentary/experimental film, combining theory with artistic practice. Through numerous lectures and photography and film workshops, she is actively involved in educational and popularization activities in the field of art. Currently, in cooperation with the CCA, she conducts “Film Consultations.”

After the screening, or more precisely after the closing credits, we will talk together with the filmmaker, who will talk about her artistic vision, creative process, inspirations and challenges she has faced. It will also be a great opportunity to ask questions, exchange views and deepen your knowledge of the art of filmmaking.

If you are a filmmaker and would like to present your work, you are encouraged to contact Grzegorz Kazmierski
at e-mail: grzegorz.kazmierski@woak.pl
or by phone: 609 662 968.
We are looking for projects that bring a new perspective to the art of filmmaking and represent the wealth of talent in our region. We will show selected films during the following “After the credits” meetings. You will meet a discerning but friendly audience.
