On the second day of the National Film Festival “Greenhouse” we invite you to another block of screenings of the most interesting short films made by independent filmmakers from all over Poland. This time we meet in the WOAK auditorium. As on Friday, we will invite the authors and authors of the screened films to talk, and they will be interviewed by Karolina Ford – feature filmmaker, director and screenwriter.

  • “Pilot” directed by Katarzyna Bojkowska, feature, time: 14 minutes and 35 seconds

Clare – a novice tour guide – on an impulse introduces a refugee into the bus on which the blind travel. After he is discovered by the tour director, the chaperones look for a way to get rid of the man so that no one finds out about him. The only person who stands up for him is Klara. She has to face the aggression, prejudice and fear that the stranger evokes in the participants.

  • “Old age is worse than fascism” directed by Marco Wojciechowski, documentary, time: 21 minutes and 20 seconds

Old age gets to everyone and there is no cure. Stanislaw and Maria, who live in Koszalin, were once the epitome of independence. Today, in their old age, they find it increasingly difficult to cope with everyday problems – especially Maria, an 83-year-old with a difficult character who notoriously loses her bearings in the city and loses her documents. Stanislaw calls on his daughter Eve for help.

  • “Freedom Square 4” directed by Kacper Wiącek, feature, time: 15 minutes

The story of a young couple who move into a newly built housing development in the 1970s. The life of two people told from the perspective of their apartment. A place of memory, or a memory of place?

  • “Absence” directed by Pawel Prewencki, animation, time: 10 minutes and 45 seconds

The film depicts the struggle with pain and suffering, touching on a very personal experience. It is a story about the loneliness, anger and grief experienced by parents after the loss of a child. An intimate and emotional visualization of the world of the bereaved. It shows a situation for which no one is prepared – when the “catalog” of familiar reactions suddenly becomes useless.

  • “There is no me,” directed by Daniel Le Hai, feature, time: 23 minutes

Peter returns to his family home years later to confront his alcoholic father and rebuild a relationship with his brother Krzys. This is a story about a man who has to face the past that is catching up with him.

  • “Ends and Beginnings” directed by Klaudia Fortuniak, feature, time: 17 minutes and 37 seconds

Wednesday. Uncut lemons, Anna pipes, stolen streetcar rails. And beautiful apples, champions. What ends today, and what begins?

  • “Mother” directed by Sebastian Kwidzinski, feature, time: 29 minutes

Paulina (35), after serving a sentence for the murder of her husband, Andrew, returns to her hometown to meet her 11-year-old son, Nicodemus. Jadwiga (55), Paulina’s mother-in-law and the boy’s guardian, wants to prevent this at all costs. Still in mourning over the loss of her son, she is unable to forgive Paulina.
