A movie poster is often the first contact with a story – a sign that is supposed to catch the eye, build tension, and promise something more than just one frame. As part of the Szklarnia Kujawy i Pomorze National Film Festival, we invite you to the film poster exhibition “Gurzyński: The Last Exhibition” – the first such comprehensive individual presentation of Mirek Gurzyński’s work.

The exhibition includes Mirek Gurzyński’s original film posters – minimalist, metaphorical, and consistently economical in form. These are works that do not tell the story of the film directly, but enter into a dialogue with it: they suggest emotions, build associations, and leave room for personal interpretation.

In the context of the Ogólnopolski Festiwal Szklarnia Kujawy i Pomorze (Kujawy and Pomerania National Festival), the exhibition is part of a reflection on the visual language of cinema – on how we think in images, abbreviations, and symbols. It is a story about the courage to simplify, about the power of symbols, and about the search for a form that says less but means more.

The exhibition is an invitation to pause briefly between screenings, discussions, and workshops—and to look at cinema from a perspective that often appears first, even before the lights go out in the theater.

Mirek Gurzyński – a physicist by education, a graphic designer and poster artist by choice. He runs the Organizm graphic design studio in Toruń.
He is a lover of thoughtful concepts, old films, and well-produced albums. His favorite fruit is gooseberry.
