Street photography is a record of everyday life, a document of social changes and a reflection of the character of an era. How has the view of photographers on urban reality changed? What subjects dominated in the past, and what catches the attention of creators of contemporary “street photography”?

On May 7 we invite you to a meeting devoted to the evolution of street photography. We will look at its history – from the time when technical limitations forced photographers to work in ateliers, to the moment when lightweight cameras made it possible to capture the dynamics of city life. We’ll learn how the great economic crisis affected the development of this trend, why street photography became an important part of documenting reality and what changes the digital age has brought.

We will talk about the most important figures in the history of the genre – from Eugène Atget and Henri Cartier-Bresson to contemporary urban photographers. We will also consider the ethical and legal aspects of photographing in public spaces and how street photography shapes our image of reality.

We cordially invite all photography enthusiasts – professionals and amateurs alike – to join us for a discussion on how the way we look at the street through the camera lens is changing.
