For decades, photographers were accused of using the means developed by drawing, printmaking and painting. – However, this was a natural path for the development of photographic art,” explains Stanislaw Jasinski, who prepared and will lead the meeting. – Inspiration from Italian, Dutch and English painting or the literature of the time can be seen in the work of Julia Margaret Cameron from 1863-1874. The work of such secured her status as a forerunner of the global style, called pictorialism. A different way of portraiture was presented by Yousuf Karsch from 1940-1960, another hero of the story. Also presented will be a project to create a group portrait of German residents, carried out by August Sander in 1908-1934, and Zofia Rydet’s “Sociological Record” project from 1970-1980, which in turn was a group portrait of elderly people living in southern Poland at the time.
