The next lecture as part of ArtsArteria will be devoted to “The Allegory of Painting,” one of the most mysterious and ambiguous paintings Jan Vermeer created.

A master of intimate genre scenes, a genius at playing with light and color, the artist was soon forgotten, only to be rediscovered in the mid-19th century. He left behind just over 30 paintings. Located in Vienna, the “Allegory of Painting” is one of his greatest masterpieces and a painting in which, at least for a moment, the painter reveals his workshop to us, unlocking a shred of mystery. What is the message of this painting? Who is the woman the artist is portraying? And are they definitely the back of Vermeer himself? We will find out all this during the next ArtArteria.

As always, the presentation will be enriched with multimedia and many intriguing anecdotes.

The lecture will traditionally be hosted by Łukasz Wudarski.
