Polish designs of photo-optical equipment in the years 1954-1989 | The art of photography | lecture

In the second half of the 20th century, photography became not only a field of art, but also a popular hobby. This was possible thanks to relatively accessible cameras. Polish engineers, including Olgierd Rutkowski, Krzysztof Meisner and Feliks Sujkowski designed quite successful and very popular designs: small-format Fenix and Alfa cameras, medium- and large-image Druh and Ami cameras.

These cameras and their subsequent versions will be the topic of the December lecture from the Art of Photography series. You will find out whether Polish cameras could compete with similar devices produced in Europe or Japan at that time. As always, Stanisław Jasiński will tell you everything. In addition to the cameras themselves, light-sensitive materials were also needed to take photos. In the last parts of the lecture you will also hear about the most popular films and papers.

The lecture from the series “The Art of Photography” will be led by Stanisław Jasiński – photographer and photography instructor, member of the Association of Polish Art Photographers. An expert in the history of photography and a collector of antique cameras and other artifacts related to this field of art.
