(2026) Purchase of instruments for the VABANK Orchestra – Phase II

In 2026, WOAK is carrying out the project “Purchase of Instruments for the VABANK Orchestra – Phase II,” which is co-financed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage under the “Cultural Center Infrastructure 2026” program with a grant of 72,000 zlotys.

Three years ago, in the spring of 2023, the WOAK Brass Band and the Vabank Orchestra from Aleksandrów Kujawski joined forces. Since then, the WOAK-Vabank Orchestra has been growing steadily. New members are joining the ensemble. We want to provide each of them with high-quality instruments so that they can pursue their passion for music without hindrance. At the same time, Waldemar Urbański, the band’s conductor, is constantly adding pieces from the realms of jazz, swing, and popular music to the repertoire. Daring arrangements and flawless performances draw a full house to every concert. The implementation of this project will make the band’s sound even more appealing and even more swing-oriented, with a distinct big band feel.

Thanks to funding from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage under the “Cultural Center Infrastructure 2026” program, the ensemble’s instrumentation will expand this year to include: two saxophones (tenor and soprano), two euphoniums (so-called baritone tubas), a trombone, a clarinet, and a piccolo, as well as a substantial set of percussion instruments: cymbals, a snare drum, and various “percussion instruments.”

We also want to ensure the technical quality of our concerts and make them more accessible to people with diverse needs. Therefore, as part of the project, we plan to purchase a set of professional instrumental and vocal microphones, sound system components, and upgrade the induction loop used during concerts.

The new equipment will not only enhance the musicians’ comfort but, above all, improve the quality of the concerts with which we regularly visit towns throughout the region.
