On crises in cultural institutions | Thursday Breakfast #19

What does the crisis landscape in cultural institutions look like today? What difficulties do people working in the sector face, and what strategies do we really need, both individually and institutionally?

During February’s “Thursday Breakfast,” we invite you to a presentation of a report on crises in cultural institutions and a joint discussion on possible responses to crisis situations. We will look for effective narratives and practices that help cultural institutions respond, adapt, and build resilience in a changing world.

The guest and expert of the meeting will be Anna Woźniak, a researcher, cultural animator, and storyteller, who will present the conclusions of the report and invite participants to discuss experiences from various environments and institutions. In 2019-2024, she co-created the research team of the Mazovian Culture Observatory at the Mazovian Institute of Culture. She currently heads the Department of Strategy and Organizational Effectiveness at the National Film Archive – Audiovisual Institute.

The program includes:

• social, political, and environmental crises in the work of cultural institutions,
• communication and narrative strategies for crisis situations,
• mental health crises from the perspective of people working in culture,
• practices from the field on how to prevent crises and respond when they do occur.

Thursday Breakfasts are a series of small, informal gatherings around a shared table. They provide a space for open dialogue, relationship building, and mutual support. We invite people working in the cultural sector in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Province who want to share their experiences, seek inspiration, and discover new perspectives. The event is part of the provincial program for strengthening people in culture, “Culture of Change.”
