What has to happen to keep the Moon from falling?

It all began with a fascination with ritual—the things we do together, even though sometimes we don’t really know why. The things we repeat to evoke, preserve, bid farewell to, or protect something. So we began searching for our own rituals.

And then the Moon appeared.

It began to set the rhythm of our work, spark our imagination, and raise questions. What happens to a person when they look up at the sky? Is it possible to perform a ritual that will keep the Moon in its place? What must be done so that the world—if only for a moment—doesn’t fall out of its orbit?

This is how **“Lunation: A Ritual to Keep the Moon from Falling” came to be, an original production by the Adult Theater Group operating at the Provincial Center for Cultural Animation in Toruń.

Lunacja represents the Moon’s full cycle of changes: from new moon to the next new moon, lasting approximately 29.5 days. It is movement, repetition, and a constant transition from beginning to end and back again.

Our creative process was similar.

We worked with the body, the voice, movement, rhythm, and presence. We explored what might happen between a word and a gesture. We learned to listen to one another and trust what emerges on stage. We pushed the boundaries of our own comfort, courage, and theatrical imagination.

It wasn’t just about creating a performance.

It was about an encounter.

About entering a space where you can allow yourself to do more. To make a movement that previously seemed impossible. To use a voice we were previously afraid to use. To be visible. To experiment. To make mistakes. To be courageous.

A group of people united by a fascination with theater formed a troupe that decided to test just how far they could push their own boundaries.

The premiere took place on June 21 at Truskawkowa Pełnia.

And now, on October 8, we invite you to join us for another evening of our ritual.

Come. Sit down. Watch.
The ritual has already begun.
