Armor – a story about the body, self-defense, and friendship | Weronika Zajkowska and Michał MurawskiThe performance Armor is a story based on the personal experiences of its creators, inviting viewers to share in the experience. It is a theatrical project by Weronika Zajkowska and Michał Murawski, which uses the means of animated theater, spontaneous writing, and physical theater. The creators draw on personal memories and construct the structure of the performance around events that have influenced their perception of their bodies. These stories may change, some may even turn out to be fictional – because the goal is not literal truth, but emotional truth. The performance was inspired by questions about what armor we put on to protect ourselves from the world, and what our bodies say about the defense strategies we have chosen, consciously or not.The creators use a universal design model in which accessibility is not an addition but the foundation of the dramaturgy. In the armor, audio description becomes the main text, while the puppet form and casts of the performers’ bodies will be part of a sensory path also accessible to people with visual impairments. The original music is intended to build an emotional sensory path that supports accessibility and universality of reception. It is an invitation to a different kind of closeness and sensual cognition.Direction, text, performance: Weronika Zajkowska, Michał MurawskiDramaturgical consultation: Paweł SablikMusic: Michał Jan MellerPuppet: Karolina KrotThe Universal Art Design project is co-financed by the European Union under the Creative Europe program.
