Gorgon Syndrome | performance by the Nodostage group | Universal Art Design

It is on the second of August at 18:00! The premiere of the performance “Gorgon Syndrome” by the Nodostage group, consisting of: Yana Alekseenko, Nadzeya Sheibak, Maciej Miecznikowski and Pavel Sheibak.

Nodostage is one of four teams that participated in the Polish segment of the international Universal Art Design project. The month-long residency includes the creation of a performance, which the team says is meant to be “…a combination of physical theater, documentary, ancient symbolism and ritual.”

• It’s not just a performance,” they say. – It’s a space where trauma regains a voice, they add.

The starting point is the myth of Medusa – one of the Gorgons. The story of violence, isolation, transformation and rebirth becomes for the creators of the performance a symbolic mirror for contemporary experience. The immediate inspiration, however, was the march against violence under the slogan “Her name was Liza”, when on March 6, 2024, in the center of Warsaw, women took to the streets shouting: “AAAAAAAAA”.

The performance will be followed by a meeting with the Nodostage team.
